WINNIPEG, MB - Mother Nature stole the show on Saturday at the Canadian Tour’s $300,000 Players Cup.
Third round action was delayed five hours Saturday as inclement weather blew through Pine Ridge, leaving the final groups in a waiting mode on AMJ Campbell Moving Day. Play finally resumed at 5:15 pm CST.
Floridian Vince Covello, who began the day with a three-shot lead, will carry a two-shot cushion into Sunday’s marathon final day. Through ten holes of the third round, Covello was even 1-over for the day, two shots up on Jose de Jesus Rodriguez of Mexico and Canadian Richard Lee, who was 2-under through 13 holes.
Canadian Lee Curry is just three shots off the pace.
Rob Grube was also making a charge Saturday, shooting 66 to get to 5-under.
Players will be back in position Sunday morning to conclude the third round before the fourth round gets underway.
