(September 7, 2012 - Gananoque, ON) - David Dragoo of Carefree, AZ shot a second round six-under 65 to take a one shot lead into the weekend at The Great Waterway Classic. Dragoo posted seven birdies to go along with his lone bogey of the tournament to edge Meridian, ID's Joe Panzeri and Chicago, IL's Carlos Sainz Jr.

Dragoo, who held the 36-hole lead at the 2011 Syncrude Boreal Open, has had a solid season to date on the Canadian Tour with four cuts made in six event played. The Georgia Tech graduate is currently 25th on the Canadian Tour Order of Merit and is looking to cap off his season with a win in South Eastern Ontario.

"I've been able to score on all the par-5s because they're shorter. I've been able to get to them in two, which makes it easier to build up some momentum,"said Dragoo, who isn't considered one of the longer hitters on the Canadian Tour. "The back nine both days I've been able to build up some momentum. The putts have started going in and I've just been able to get on a roll playing the last few holes," added the third year member of the CANTOUR.

After a heart breaking loss to Eugene Wong at the Canadian Tour Championship, where Wong infamously dunked a 9-iron from the fairway to steal victory, Panzeri has returned the Canadian Tour after a week off with out missing a beat. The 2011 Dakota Dunes Casino Open winner fired a second round 7-under 64 to get him to 12-under total.

Panzeri navigated the tight par-71 6,600 yard Smuggler's Glen Golf Course posting seven birdies, one eagle and two bogeys.

"I've been spending a lot of time on my wedge game, putting and chipping," said Panzeri, who calls Boise, ID home where he plays and practices with PGA TOUR member Graham DeLaet.  "My practice is really starting to pay off, and I feel like if I'm inside 110 yards I feel like I have a good opportunity to get up and down from there. On this golf course you're going to a have a lot of those shots," added the 2011 International Rookie of the Year on the Canadian Tour.

Sainz Jr., a 2010 and 2011 Canadian Tour member, shot his second consecutive 65 at Smuggler's Glen and sits in a tie for second with Panzeri. Since losing card after the 2011 season the Mississippi State grad has been on a fire after Monday qualifying for the Tour Championship as well as the Jamieson WFCU Windsor Roseland Charity Classic where he finished T-4 to earn his way into The Great Waterway Classic.

"It was fun today. I had four great saves for par, and I haven't made a bogey yet, which is always fun," said Sainz, whose scoring average is 69.80 in eight rounds played on the CANTOUR. "I've been playing really well the last two months. It feels really good to put some good rounds together and get some status out here," added Sainz, who will lock up a full card for 2012 based on his position on the Order of Merit as an affiliate member.

Michael Gligic of Burlington matched the course record set by first round leader Jaime Gomez with an 8-under 63. The 2012 ATB Financial Classic winner had a bogey free round which included eight birdies.

Along with Gligic, Matt Hill and Cory Renfrew are all battling for the final two positions on the Canadian Tour Order of Merit. Hill holds the top spot, and is only in danger of falling outside the top two if Renfrew, who sits T-34, finishes solo second or better and Gligic finishes inside the top three.

Due to pending inclement weather Director of Rules and Competition, Randy Korn, decided that split tees would be necessary in order to ensure play is completed on Saturday. The first tee time for the third round will begin at 7:30 p.m. from the first and 10th tees.
