HILL TOPS CANADIAN TOUR PLAYERS AT RBC CANADIAN OPEN
Sunday, July 29, 2012 - Submitted by Brian Decker

(July 29, 2012 - Ancaster, ON) - Canadian Tour Order of Merit leader Matt Hill shot a three-over 73 Sunday to conclude play at the RBC Canadian Open at Hamilton Golf & Country Club in Ancaster, ON.

Hill, who was playing the weekend for the first time in four tries at the Canadian Open, finished tied for 75th after shooting rounds of 70-69-71-73. Though he topped a list of several Canadian Tour players in the field this week, the 23-year old said he's hoping his experience this week pushes him to even further heights down the road.

"I had a lot of fun this week. I saw some good things in my game and some things I need to work on," said Hill. "After finishing the way I did I'm more motivated than ever to work harder."

"I feel like I've learned a lot this week and know I can improve a lot on how I've played," added the Sarnia, ON native.

The finish continues a summer of solid play from Hill, who leads the Canadian Tour Order of Merit on the strength of a win at the Dakota Dunes Casino Open and top-10s in every event he's played. The former Golf Canada National Team member says he's looking to continue his good play on the Canadian Tour the rest of the season.

"My goal is to win the Order of Merit and hopefully win another event," said Hill.

Hill was one of six active Canadian Tour players to tee it up this week, joining Cory Renfrew, Adam Hadwin, Brad Fritsch, Michael Gligic and Nick Taylor

Canadian Tour alumnus Graham DeLaet shot an even-par 70 Sunday to take the Rivermead Cup as low Canadian, two shots clear of David Hearn, another Canadian Tour alumnus. Other Canadians to make the cut included amateur Albin Choi, who took home the Gary Cowan Trophy as low amateur, and another Canadian Tour alumnus in Matt McQuillan.

The Canadian Tour resumes play in two weeks at the Jamieson WFCU Windsor Roseland Charity Classic in Windsor, Ontario before heading to the Canadian Tour  Championship at the historic Scarboro Golf & Country Club, celebrating its centenary year.
